The Future of the Mindful Education Institute (MEI)

MEIAs a first year program, the Mindful Education Institute (MEI) training has far surpassed the success MBA initially envisioned.  It has been profound to see the participants taking the lessons and integrating them into their lives and work. As the current training year continues, and because we have received tremendous interest from people wanting more information on upcoming trainings, we want to give an update on the future of MEI.

At this time, we have decided not to organize a 2013-2014 MEI training.  The Mind Body Awareness Project’s core mission has always been to support at-risk-youth with mindfulness and other contemplative practices. MBA has decided to give greater focus to this mission with renewed vigor to continue supporting the direct service work we have pioneered for so long.

The MEI 2012-2013 team (which includes Daniel Rechtschaffen, Chris McKenna and Vinny Ferraro, among others) is excited to be fulfilling the rest of this year’s program with full focus.  It has been, and continues to be, an amazing journey with Jon Kabat-Zinn, Jack Kornfield, Linda Lantieri, Susan Kaiser Greenland, and the rest of the amazing team constellating in such a unique way. It has been a dream to bring such a profound group together.

MBA may very well reestablish the MEI training in the future.  In the meantime, please feel free to contact us with questions about this news.  And if you haven’t already done so, sign up for our mailing list to be certain you receive information about upcoming trainings.
